The faculty at our college are working with the administration to develop
a better policy for department chairs. Currently, the chairs receive
$1,000 for the year and no release time from teaching or service. The
administration has pointed out that some departments only have five majors
while others have over 100 majors so that the same release time for all
chairs is not equitable.
In order to strengthen our position, we would like to gather information
about the policies at other colleges and universities. If anyone is
willing to share this information, I would appreciate it!
