The only problem I have with white boards is that they have to be erased
quickly. If the writing is left on overnight, it tends not to come off
unless you use cleaning solution, which is a bit of a pain. You need a rag
(the white board eraser does NOT work; I found that out the hard way), plus
you need to wait a minute or so until the board dries.
Still, way better than the blackboard.

Subject: Blackboard vs. Whiteboards
Our college is in the process of inquiring replacing blackboards by
whiteboards. However several concerns were raised by faculty about white
boards. I am listing them for your kind response as most of you have had
several years experience using white boards in your classrooms.
1) Does the scent of the felt markers bother students or faculty?
2) What color of felt marker is the easiest to read on the white board?
3) What solution do you use for clean-up? Does it work well?
4) Where do you order your pens and clean-up solution from ?
5) Do custodians ever clean the white boards?
6) Any other drawbacks you have encountered with using a white board as
opposed to a black board?
7) What are the positives for you of using a white board?
Thanks.
