Can anyone on the list direct me to sources about the tax/welfare systems in
other countries, especially Western Europe and Canada?
Inspired by student questions and my own curiosity, I'm trying to figure out
how the U.S. federal tax system compares with the system in other countries.
My intuition is that the greater complexity of the U.S. tax code is a sort
of back-door compensation for a relatively limited system of social services
while other countries have simpler tax systems but more complex systems of
social programs for their citizens.
Any leads or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for
your help.
